Dr. Elba Moise, PhD (She/They/Ella/Ellex) will lead an interactive session titled "Cultivating Brave Conversations: Navigating Power Dynamics" from 2-4 PM on May 21st in Mission Hall 1406 followed by a networking opportunity from 4-5 PM.

This session is focused on engaging in difficult conversations related to DEIA. Participants will engage in small and large group discussions that promote a brave space, collaboration, support, and confidence.

In this dynamic session, you will learn how to:

  • Recognize bias, structural racism, and sexism (+ other forms of oppressions) and its impact in clinical settings
  • Respond to difficult conversations that stem from bias with radical listening and productive strategies
  • Replenish by developing personalized self-care strategies related to racial and gender (+ other dimensions of identity) dynamics.


About Dr. Elba Moise
Dr. Moise is a bilingual, accomplished, and growth-minded professional with a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences & Human Development from the University of Washington. She has dedicated over 10 years to leading and managing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) programs, professional trainings, and community-building initiatives in corporate and higher education.

Dr. Moise’s commitment is to create inclusive and anti-racist working environments as a leader, coach, and researcher specializing in inclusion, equity and adult learning. She is passionate about understanding how biases manifest and influence emotions and interactions in the workplace. Her aim is to foster a culture of belonging where all are empowered to be their most authentic self.

Registration

  • This event is open to women and gender minorities within the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center community.
  • Registration is limited to the first 30 respondents. After capacity is reached, respondents will be placed on a wait list and notified if an opening becomes available.
  • You are not required to have participated in the initial Values-Based Leadership workshop to participate.
  • Refreshments will be provided at the post-session networking event.
