Atopic Dermatitis at the  Intersection of Racial and Climate Justice

Markus Boos, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, University of Washington School of Medicine, Attending Dermatologist, Seattle Children's Hospital, Program Director, University of Washington Dermatology Residency Program

Objectives:

  • To assess the health care disparities that exist in the treatment of Black children with a diagnosis of atopic dermatitis
  • To analyze the effects of climate change on the health of children, with a specific emphasis on its role in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis
  • To examine environmental racism as a precipitant of health care disparities, and explore its role in atopic dermatitis
