Do you wonder if you are accurately assessing the performance of learners? In this fun workshop, participants apply principles for developing a rating scale following a rigorous process. In the process participants review how to demonstrate evidence for the validity of the score from the rating scale, and how to identify common errors and problems with rating scales.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Develop an assessment instrument.
Determine evidence of validity.
Describe sources of error that threaten validity and how to address them.
Set personal goals for applying the skills learned in this workshop to one's own practice setting, and review a tool designed to assess performance of new teaching skills.
