University of California San Francisco Give to UCSF

This program is for first year students in basic and biomedical science PhD programs at UCSF. The program will be helpful to you regardless of the number of rotations you have completed or how close you are to making your thesis lab choice.

In this workshop, you will lay the groundwork for your thesis lab choice. We will guide you through using our Decision Matrix tool to understand what you are really looking for in your thesis lab and then assess the rotation labs you’ve been in so far against your individual criteria. We’ll end by addressing how to communicate with PIs about your choice and strategies for what comes next no matter which lab you choose. The session will include time for self-reflection, discussion with peers, and input from CPD staff and senior interns.

Attend this workshop if you're looking for structure, guidance, and company around making this important decision. Food will be provided.
