DESCRIPTION:The CHC Peer Review has the goal of providing the highest quali
ty constructive feedback to our trainees and faculty to help improve their
research and chances of funding.\n\nWe meet around 3 weeks before the NIH
R01 deadlines\, in September (for the October deadline)\, January (for th
e February deadline) and May (for the June deadline).\n\nFor early career
faculty (including postdoctoral fellows\, specialists\, and assistant prof
essors): We suggest that NIH proposals by early career faculty are welcome
to go through one or two reviews at the CHC: a concept review and a final
grant proposal review. The concept review provides a time to discuss the
ideas\, specific aims\, and methods of a grant proposal. The proposal shou
ld not be entirely written at this time (except for aims). Concept reviews
should be done at least 3 months before the internal UCSF deadlines.\n\nM
id-career faculty and senior faculty: Peer review is strongly encouraged f
or grant proposals for mid- career and senior faculty. Think of it as a fr
ee round of review before it goes to NIH or other reviewers.\n \nIf you ha
ve questions or to RVSP\, please contact Dina Freij (Dina.Freij@ucsf.edu).
A confidential agenda will be sent only to those who RSVP prior to the m
 eeting.
