DESCRIPTION:This full-day event will introduce a vision for genome surgery
at UCSF. UCSF Center for Genome Surgery is a new partnership between the U
CSF Broad Stem Cell Center and the Innovative Genomics Institute\, dedicat
ed to building a pathway to bring genetically-targeted therapies to people
with genetic diseases.\n\nSymposium Highlights\nWelcome by Chancellor Sam
Hawgood\nOpening session: Why a Center for Genome Surgery?\nKeynote Addre
sses from Jennifer Doudna and Laura Sepp-Lorenzino\nScientific talks and d
iscussions on genome engineering technologies\, research priorities\, and
building systems for clinical implementation\nDiscussions of ethics\, pati
ent perspectives\, and the future of individualized genome editing\nClosin
g conversation on building the long-term vision for the Center\nPoster ses
 sion\nClosing reception\n\nPoster Presentations: Faculty\, trainees\, and
research staff are invited to submit abstracts for consideration in the po
ster session by August 14. Presentations ranging from basic science discov
ery research through clinical implementation in genetic medicine are welco
me. Topics may include disease biology\, therapeutic engineering\, genome
 editing\, gene replacement\, RNA therapeutics\, cell therapies\, delivery
 technologies\, manufacturing\, regulatory science\, ethics\, and multidisc
iplinary approaches to clinical translation. We particularly encourage wor
k that bridges scientific discovery with the development therapies for pat
ients with genetic disease. The symposium is designed to bring together in
 vestigators from academia\, healthcare\, industry\, regulatory\, and patie
nt advocacy organizations to foster discussion and collaboration around th
e development and translation of genetic medicines. Authors should therefo
re submit abstracts and data that are appropriate for presentation to this
broad audience. Submit abstract.\n\nLunch will be provided for those who
register.\n\nIf you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this
event because of a disability\, please contact GenomeSurgery@ucsf.edu as
 soon as possible.
