"The Role of Comprehensive Cancer Centers in Improving Cancer Survival"

Speaker: Kim Rhoads, MD, MS, MPH

Dr. Rhoads is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and the Director of the Office of Community Engagement for the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC). Her training and expertise span the full spectrum of basic science research, through clinical care as a colorectal surgeon, and population based studies on how differences in quality of care drive disparities in health outcomes. Rhoads also has formal training in health policy at Harvard as a California Endowment Scholar.

Dr. Rhoads serves as a senior leader at the UCSF Cancer Center where she sets the agenda for Community Engagement. She is also the founding Director of Umoja Health, a community coalition born during the pandemic, which provides health information, health screenings and vaccinations with services provided by the community partners in Oakland, San Francisco, and San Mateo Counties.
