Using pair share, lecture, small group activities and a feedback tool, the instructors lead a workshop whose goal is to develop a preceptor's ability to role-model anti-racist behavior and embody a growth mindset when receiving feedback on race from learners and colleagues. Scenarios used in the workshop are based on real incidents that UCSF students experienced during clerkships.

During this workshop, participants will:

Hear an overview of barriers to receiving and giving racial feedback and consequences of not giving and receiving racial feedback.
Apply BIG EARS framework to practice giving or receiving feedback based on 2-3 scenarios based on real incidents, then debrief.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Discuss barriers to giving and receiving racial feedback and verbalize the consequences of not giving and openly receiving racial feedback.
State examples of how to role model anti-racist behavior in the clinical leaning environment
Describe the BIG EARS tool for giving & receiving racial feedback and apply the tool to role play scenarios
Develop commitments for improving your own/your department's culture of receiving and responding to racial equity feedback from patients, learners, and colleagues.
