UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice invite you to join us on Tuesday, October 5th at 12:00 PM for a discussion called “Freedom Community Clinic: Bringing Whole-Person Healing to the People” via Zoom. The talk will feature UCSF Medical Student, Bernadette “Bernie” Lim, who is the Founder and Director of the Freedom Community Clinic, Woke WOC Docs Podcast, Freedom School for Intersectional Medicine and Health Justice, and part of the founding team of the Institute for Healing and Justice in Medicine.
Freedom Community Clinic is Oakland-rooted and led by Womxn and Gender Non-Confirming People of Color that envisions a health revolution that nourishes and uplifts the bodies, minds, and spirits of under-resourced communities and brings care directly to where communities gather and celebrate. The clinic provides healing services such as doula care, acupuncture, and somatic bodywork to the community for free and/or at community scale.
You can register for the talk here and learn more about Bernie and her cause by going to www.freedomcommunityclinic.org/aboutus. This lecture is free to attend but donations to the Freedom Community Clinic are strongly encouraged.
This event was planned by a diverse group of UCSF staff who organized in response to the ongoing racial injustices. The goal of the UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice monthly speaker series is to promote critical thinking and action around intersectional structures of power, privilege, and racial oppression in clinical care, education, and beyond. We will continue to highlight the efforts of community antiracism activists.
