About this Event
This is a 2-parts bilingual (English/Cantonese) Alzheimer's Symposium organized by the Asian Health Symposium.
Part 1 aims at increasing the health literacy about Alzheimer's disease, especially targeting the large local monolingual Chinese population, but also open to the whole community. Identifying early symptoms, making diagnosis early and starting treatments early are the strategies we use to slow down the progression of this chronic illness that afflicts millions of Americans each year.
Part 2 focuses on the caregiver. Speaker is Mrs. Gwen Kao, Chairman of the Charles Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Foundation (Hong Kong) and widow of Nobel Laureate Charles Kao, will share her pearls of wisdom and tips from the experience of taking care of Professor Charles Kao for his last 15 years of living with the disease before his passing. Chinese resources from the Alzheimer's Association will also be shared.
This 2-Parts Symposium is organized by the UCSF Asian Health Institute (AHI) in collaboration with the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, Alzheimer's Association (U.S.) and the Charles Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Foundation (Hong Kong).
