DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, October 10\, 2019\, the Center for Faculty Educat
ors offers this intensive day of workshops for participants to accelerate
progress toward completion of a Teach for UCSF Certificate in Simulation T
eaching\, or complete an entire mini-certificate in one day. Read more abo
ut Teach for UCSF Certificates.\n\nCME credit is available for certain hea
lth professions.\n\nThis all-day workshop is an integration of the core wo
rkshops that are required for the Teach for UCSF Certificate in Simulation
Teaching:\n\nPart 1\, Using Simulation in Medical Education: Why\, What a
nd How\nPart 2\, Using Simulation in Medical Education: Conducting and Deb
riefing\n\nDuring this workshop\, participants will learn about the learni
ng theory behind simulation in health professional education\, and how to
apply this theory to prepare and conduct effective simulation-based teachi
ng. Following an introduction on learning theory and the characteristics o
f effective simulation\, participants will work in small groups to create
their own simulation scenarios using Kern’s 6-step model for curricul
um development in medical education. Participants will then explore strate
gies to effectively conduct simulation sessions and facilitate debriefing.
Finally\, participants will have the opportunity to practice these strate
gies in small group exercises.\n\nAt the end of this session\, participant
s will be able to:\n\nExplain the rationale for using simulation in health
professional education\nList best practices for the use of simulation as
an educational strategy\nCreate learning goals and objectives for your sim
ulation curriculum and sessions\nDesign a simulation scenario with appropr
iate learning objectives for your learners\nDevelop skills to effectively
conduct simulation scenarios and facilitate debriefing\n\nSee details for
the Simulation Teaching Certificate. tinyurl.com/T4UCSFSim\n\nUCSF is accr
edited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to pr
ovide continuing medical education for physicians.\n\nUCSF designates this
live activity for a maximum of 50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicia
ns should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their part
icipation in the activity.\n\nThe above credit is inclusive of all UCSF Ed
ucational Skills Workshops and the Teaching Scholars Program. Credit avail
able for this event only is 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.\n\nFor the
purpose of recertification\, the American Nurses Credentialing Center acce
pts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the
ACCME.\n\nThe California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professi
onal education those courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharma
cy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.\n\nUC
SF Educational Skills Workshops and Med Ed Grand Rounds have been approved
by UCSF Rehabilitative Services for up to 7 continuing education hours pe
r year total. Questions regarding this approval should be directed to (415
 ) 514-6779.\n\nCourse No. MGR20075.
