DESCRIPTION:UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice invite you to join
  us on Thursday\, March 16th at 12:00 PM for a discussion called “A Chro
 nic Journey: Exploring the Cultural Contexts of Chronic Pain and Disabilit
 y.” The talk will feature writer\, disability advocate\, and mother\, Ni
 dhi Jaisoor. She is also the Partnerships Manager for Diversability\, a co
 mmunity with a mission to elevate disability pride.\n\nNidhi was raised in
  Nigeria and India\, and moved to the US to attend graduate school. She wo
 rked in information technology for a few years before a neck injury led to
  disabling chronic pain. She draws on her experiences to illuminate the nu
 ances of our humanity through her writing and speaking. She talks about ho
 w culture\, immigration status\, age\, and gender informed her interaction
 s with healthcare professionals\, as well as her own perspectives on her b
 ody. She talks about her journey\, through this lens\, with chronic pain\,
  mental health\, and disability.\n\nYou can register for the talk here and

 s lecture is free to attend but donations to the World Food Programme are 
 strongly encouraged.\n\nThis event was planned by a diverse group of UCSF 
 staff who organized in response to the ongoing racial injustices. The goal
  of the UCSF Healthcare Advocates for Social Justice monthly speaker serie
 s is to promote critical thinking and action around intersectional structu
 res of power\, privilege\, and racial oppression in clinical care\, educat
 ion\, and beyond. We will continue to highlight the efforts of community a
