About this Event
Vivek Rudrapatna, MD, PhD will present findings from his research on the environmental impacts of colorectal cancer screening methods and their implications for healthcare sustainability. Healthcare is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, yet efforts to study and improve decisions on how to deliver healthcare with greater environmental sustainability remain in their infancy. In this study, his team performed a prospective audit of three methods for performing colorectal screening, one of the most common healthcare procedures, and used the method of life cycle assessments to quantify environmental impacts. They simulated the impacts of hypothetical policy changes to how colon cancer screening is performed in the United States. In this talk, Dr. Rudrapatna will share the findings and lessons learned for this field of healthcare sustainability.
