Jennifer Felder, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to promoting mental health during pregnancy and early parenting (i.e., the perinatal period). She is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and core research faculty at the Osher Center for Integrative Health. In her research, Dr. Felder evaluates treatments to improve sleep and prevent depression. She is committed to increasing access to evidence-based interventions, particularly among populations disproportionately affected by poor health outcomes. To this end, she investigates innovative formats for disseminating interventions, such as digital, co-located, and integrated services. In her clinical work, Dr. Felder provides cognitive behavior therapy for insomnia for adults with chronic insomnia. 

At the end of this activity, learners will be able to: 

  • Describe the consequences of sleep disturbances during pregnancy 

  • Explain the theories for using mindfulness- and behavioral-based interventions for improving sleep during pregnancy 

  • Summarize preliminary findings of mindfulness and behavioral approaches for improving sleep during pregnancy
