Preventing Child Maltreatment in California Through Policy and Practice: A Multi-System Approach to Strengthen Families and Promote Child Wellbeing

Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Understand the historical framework – including executive, legislative, and judicial actions – influencing today’s policies and practices related to child and family well-being in the United States, and be able to discuss at least one historical policy action that influences the current child protection system.
- Understand economic factors impacting child maltreatment and family strengthening
- Understand community connections and conversations about the development of pathways for prevention and promotion of child and family well-being
- Understand current legislative and practice actions in California to reform mandated reporting and create pathways for prevention and promotion of child and family well-being, and be able to list at least one current policy reform being recommended in California
