Behavioral Health Needs for Youth Involved in the Legal System

Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the contemporary and historical tension between rehabilitation and punishment in the United States juvenile legal system
  • Review evidence for the effectiveness of the service delivery systems for youth involved in the legal system
  • Critically evaluate three rehabilitative reforms and their impacts on minoritized youth involved in the legal system
  • Consider two paths for applied clinical and implementation science research to improve behavioral health and legal outcomes for youth involved in the legal system

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Grand Rounds presentations are for educational purposes and intended only for behavioral/mental health professionals and clinical providers.

Continuing education (CE) credit is available for physicians, psychologists, nurses, and therapists who participate in this activity.
