Learning objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define the compassion-focused therapy model of emotion regulation
  • Discuss and understand the roots of suffering in evolutionary history, personal histories, and the present moment
  • Describe the growing body of research which suggests that compassion-focused therapy may be a beneficial supplement to other treatments, particularly for patients who rate high in shame and self-criticism
