DESCRIPTION:The students have spoken and hundreds voted for David Wofsy\, M
 D to deliver the eighth annual Last Lecture.  Dr. Wofsy received his under
 graduate degree from Harvard (1968)\, his medical degree from the Universi
 ty of California\, San Diego (1974)\, and his medical residency training a
 nd rheumatology fellowship training from the University of California\, Sa
 n Francisco. He joined the UCSF faculty in 1980. He is currently Professor
  of Medicine and Microbiology/Immunology at UCSF. Dr. Wofsy also serves as
  Associate Dean for Admissions for the UCSF School of Medicine. He has ser
 ved on numerous NIH study sections\, and on the Arthritis Advisory Committ
 ee of the Food and Drug Administration. During his tenure as Associate Dea
 n\, the School of Medicine has consistently had one of the most\, if not t
 he most diverse\, student bodies in the country. His leadership on behalf 
 of student scholarships has contributed to an average annual growth rate o
 f ~10%/year in scholarship funds during the past decade.\n\nSponsored by t
