Learning objectives:
At the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

  • Recognize that patients treated to remission with cognitive therapy will be only half as likely to relapse following treatment termination as patients treated to remission with antidepressant medications
  • Be conversant with the arguments on both sides as to whether cognitive therapy has an enduring effect or antidepressant medications prolong the underlying episode
