Dr. Hirota is originally from Japan and graduated from Kobe University School of Medicine in Japan. Following the completion of a general psychiatry training at Vanderbilt University and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training at UCSF, Dr. Hirota became a full-time faculty member and an attending psychiatrist at UCSF in 2017. As a board-certified psychiatrist both in the U.S. and Japan, he has treated children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of psychiatric illnesses. At the UCSF STAR Center, Dr. Hirota is involved in diagnostic and treatment assessments and also provides medication management consultations.
