About this Event
A conversation about making one of San Francisco's busiest bike routes safer, greener, and more welcoming.
What if 17th Street became one of San Francisco's safest and most inviting east-west corridors for walking, biking, rolling, shopping, and connecting with neighbors?
Join Bikes! at UCSF for a conversation with Peter Belden and Steven Solomon, organizers of the Safer, Better 17th Street campaign, to learn about the vision for transforming 17th Street from Castro to Potrero Hill through the UCSF Mission Bay Campus.
The proposal builds on the City's recently adopted Biking and Rolling Plan and explores ideas including:
You'll also hear about early results from the protected bike lanes already installed on 17th Street in Potrero Hill, including increased bicycle use, improved pedestrian safety, fewer conflicts between road users, and little impact on vehicle traffic.
Whether you're a daily bike commuter, occasional rider, neighborhood resident, or simply interested in creating safer, more people-friendly streets, this is an opportunity to learn more and ask questions.
