Educating Physicians for the 21st Century: How UCSF is Advancing Medical Education to Meet the Needs of Future Patients

Healthcare is changing, and so is the way that physicians for the future are educated. Long a leader in medical education, the UCSF School of Medicine is transforming how the physicians of the twenty first century learn, respond to an ever-changing environment, and contribute to the Bay Area community. Taught by expert medical educators from UCSF School of Medicine, this course will highlight how medical education is adapting to meet the needs of both individual patients and society at large. The course will discuss innovations in class room learning, work place learning, educational technology, simulation and standardized patients, new scientific domains, inquiry and scholarship, the importance of community engagement, and student wellness.
