Susanna Rosi co-authored a new paper showing that an experimental drug was able to reverse severe learning and memory impairments caused by traumatic brain injury (TBI) in mice. The drug, called ISRIB, fully restored the ability to learn and remember in the brain-injured mice even when the animals were first treated as much as a month after injury. This is a striking finding that suggests new potential pathways for treating TBI, which affects nearly 2 million Americans every year and is a leading risk factor for dementia.
