| Description: | “Hepatitis C Virus-Host Interactions: Insights into Novel Targets for Therapy” Dr. Chung is Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is Director of Hepatology. He has dedicated his career to translational research in viral hepatitis, particularly the pathogenesis of HCV. Dr. Chung was part of the original research team that identified the causal link between HCV and type II cryoglobulinemia. His laboratory conducted important work on tissue culture models of HCV, mechanisms of persistence of HCV, elucidation of critical virus-host interactions, and has identified critical relationships between HCV and lipid metabolism, insulin resistance, and oxidative stress. |
